Portfolio Reviews 2023

Photopolis Agrinio Photo Festival invites you to participate in Portfolio Reviews with an open call for proposals.
Portfolio Reviews open the door for amateur and professional photographers and artists to meet distinguished professionals from the photography community. This opportunity allows participants to receive tailored advice on their photography work and find their way to international festivals, media and networking.
The Portfolio Reviews will take place on Saturday 28/10 from 16:00 to 18:00 at the main events of the festival in Agrinio (old Municipal Market ).
Each photographer has the opportunity to do one individual session, lasting 20 minutes.
Regarding the selection of Reviewers, entrants must indicate their preference on the entry form. The final schedule of the meetings will be formed based on the availability of the reviewers and the preferences of the participants.
OBLIGATIONS OF PARTICIPANTS
On the day of the meeting, you must bring a printed photographic proposal (10×15 or larger) that will include a section of up to 20 photographs, which make up all or part of a photographic project.
COST
The cost for the participants is free, since the fee of the reviewers is fully covered by the festival!

    Eleni Mouzakiti is a visual artist, educator and curator of photographic exhibitions and publications.
    She studied German Language and Literature at the University of Athens, FU Berlin and Ruprecht-Karl University of Heidelberg.
    She holds an MA in Image and Communication from Goldsmiths College, University of London and a PhD in Photography as an Art Practice from Derby University, UK.
    Her photographic work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions and festivals internationally. Her works belong to the collection of the Portland Museum of Art, Oregon, USA, the Museum of Photography of Thessaloniki, the State Museum of Contemporary Art, the ACG Art Collection and other private collections.
    Eleni has designed and taught the course of Photography Practice Theory and History at the Department of Fine Arts (Ioannina University), the Hellenic Center for Photography, the Athens School of Fine Arts (adult education program in photography) and in the postgraduate program – MA in Photography and Visual Language – of AKTO / Middlesex University, UK.
    She has curated numerous photography exhibitions and publications and is a founding member of The Provinces, a platform that collects and promotes photographic projects that deal with the Greek periphery.
    Committed to long- term projects in her artistic work she focuses on issues of ‘absorptive’ behavior in the public realm, leisure time geography, landscape as a fantasy of “belonging”

    Lambros Papanikolatos studied Marketing Communication, Advertising & Multimedia in Greece and the Netherlands and continued with postgraduate studies in Photography in Prague (Academy of Performing Arts / FAMU). He received the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation Scholarship (1999-2001) for his MA studies and a Fulbright Grant to study/ research in New York (2003-2005).

    He represented Greece at the Biennale of Young European Artists in Rome in 1999 and was awarded at the International Photographic Festival of Arles, (Les Rencontres d’Arles) France, in 2000. His works are part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, USA.

    From 2004 until today, he has been active in the fields of cultural production, curation, and communication, as well as research & development of educational programs. He has collaborated internationally with photography festivals such as Houston FotoFest, Festival of Light, Thessaloniki Photobiennale, etc., while in Greece, he co-organized masterclasses with internationally renowned artists (Antoine d’Agata, Michael Ackerman, J.H. Engstrom, etc.).

    From 2016 to 2018, he taught in the adult education program in photography at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA – ELKE). While from 2018, he has been a professor in the master’s program of Middlesex University, UK, in collaboration with AKTO College (MA in Photography and Visual Language, Module / Advanced Professional Photography).

    From June 2022, he is the new director of AKTO’s Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Degree in Photography program in collaboration with Middlesex University, UK.

    Visual artist and filmmaker

    GEORGES SALAMEH is a visual artist and filmmaker. He was born in Beirut in 1973. He studied cinema at Paris VIII St. Denis. He has lived in Lebanon, Cyprus, Greece, France, Sicily and Egypt. He has been living and working in Athens for the last six years. Since 1998 he has been exhibiting photographic installations and videos, documentaries and experimental films in Greece and abroad. Since 2009 he is co-founder of the production and publishing platform MeMSeA. He has curated film and photo specials and organized workshops centered around the study of the still and moving image. His works belong to private and public collections.

    He was born in Egio in 1980. He lives and works in Patras. He has been involved in photography since 2000.
