Open Call competition for short films
Submission of entries until 31.10.2024
Photopolis Festival, announces a motion picture competition and invites you to submit your work in the category: Short Films.
Terms of invitation
The submission of projects will last from 1.9 to 31.10.2024. The selected works will be part of the main events of the festival and will be screened at the Municipal Cinema (in Agrinio) in October 2025.
The participants are requested to submit their project(s) electronically, which must be downloadable, with a maximum duration of twenty minutes (20′), as well as a short descriptive text of the project. If the spoken language is not Greek, then the necessary file of Greek or English subtitles should also be submitted.

Results
The results will be announced by April 1, 2025 on the festival website (www.photopolis.gr), on social media, while the creators of the selected works will also be informed by e-mail.
Terms
1. The projects must be product of the participant.
2. In case that the works depict persons unknowingly or without their approval, as well as for the general audiovisual material being used, responsibility lies solely with the creator to whom the work belongs and not the Photopolis Festival.
3. If the official spoken language is not Greek, then the necessary Greek subtitles material should also be submitted.
4. Each participant can declare as many works as they want but only one can be selected (in case of selection).
5. The copyrights of each work belong to their creators.
6. The festival reserves the right to publish photos and trailers of the films for its advertising.
Jury
Konstaninos Ioakeimidis
Director, editor
Konstantinos Ioakeimidis was born in 1972 in Agios Konstantinos Agrinio, by parents of refugee origin. He studied cinema and television and has worked as an editor at ERT SA, Mega Channel and other production companies having edited news, commercial videos, dozens of episodes of shows, documentary series shown at festivals and at ERT. His first short film, which was also his degree project, is “My Mother’s Profession” and was adapted from Bost’s homonymous short story. He directed the documentary film “Boudalia” which participated in the international festivals of Thessaloniki, Chania, Ierapetra. Today he is finishing a new feature length documentary directed and produced by himself.
Nontas Sarlis
Director
Nontas Sarlis was born in Amfilochia. He studied Theater and Cinema in Athens. He worked in Cinema and State Greek Television, as a director and editor.
As a director, he moved exclusively in the field of creative documentaries, having directed from 1976 until today 30 documentaries, long, medium and short, as well as several hours of television programs.
As an editor, he has collaborated with many Greek directors, in feature and short films, as well as television programs. He also worked at the Theatre, as a director, having staged several plays with works by Greek, European and American playwrights.
Since 1981, he systematically dealt with the subject of film education, as a professor at various Film Schools in Greece. It has organized various short film festivals from time to time, supporting the efforts of young creators.
Zephy Ross
Director
Zephy Ross, director, editor and screenwriter of fiction films, was born in Greece. He graduated from the Fine Arts of Thessaloniki APTH, Department of Cinema, and also later collaborated as an artist at the residence of new technologies Le Fresnoy, national studio of contemporary arts (France).
He participated as an artist in the International Sculpture Exhibition OPEN 15 2012 in Venice with the joint project “Re-thinking Crisis” trying to recall the values inside the European crisis. He is an author, musician, singer, sound artist for films.
His film “Dollhouse” 2016 participated in the Athens International Film Festival and many well-known international film festivals. He has worked on numerous film projects and presented photography and video exhibitions for galleries and studios; he currently works between France, Greece and Cyprus.
