ABOUT US
PHOTOPOLIS PHOTO & FILM FESTIVAL
BIOGRAPHY
The Photopolis International Photography & Film Festival has been held since 2019 and represents the natural evolution of the annual photography exhibitions organized by the “art8” photography group, which began in 2013.
The festival’s steadily growing popularity among the city’s residents has established it as an institutional artistic event in the visual arts scene of Agrinio and the wider region.
It is organized by the “Photopolis Cultural Association,” whose founding members are members of the “art8” photography group.
The association is governed by a 5-member Board of Directors:
President: Panos Kaltsas
Vice President: Theoni Leivaditi
Secretary: Epameinondas Lambrakopoulos
Treasurer: Konstantinos Tsolkas
Member: Dimitrios Kourtis.
The festival is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Agrinio!
OBJECTIVE
It is aimed at a broad audience, particularly young people, and seeks to give its events a trans-local character by featuring artists from different countries, thereby generating, among other things, added value for the city.
At the same time, however, it emphasizes the promotion and showcasing of artistic photographic production.
The festival serves as a catalyst for bringing together and fostering collaboration among cultural organizations and institutions, with the ultimate goal of fostering artistic collaborations and exchanges. In this context, it collaborates with professionals in the fields of photography and film, cultural organizations from other municipalities, as well as other photography festivals.
LOCATION
The festival takes place at major cultural venues, such as the renovated building of the old vegetable market in the municipality of Agrinio, the “Christos Kapralos” Art Gallery, the Papastrateio Megaro, the House of Lucie Gallery, the TAXIDEOUSA Gallery, and the central square (featuring stylish cubic stands), while film screenings are held at the municipal cinema “ANESIS”!
